Hoooo Boy that was a heck of a week! We had 46 workshop attendees, 3 instructors and myriad friends and family helping support us and it was a huge success! Everyone who came out worked so hard and was incredibly kind and considerate of both each-other and our new home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AC was in the mix a lot more than I was, trouble shooting, interpreting plans, rushing to finish details to be ready for the crew. I spent most of the time in the kitchen with Mom, Lisa, Taylor, Dave, Louise and Debbie on the new and wild experience of feeding 50+ people for a whole week. We had so much wonderful support from our neighbors as well, folks at the workshop frequently commented on what an incredible supportive community we have helping us build and they were right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So thank you all of you! This couldn’t have happened without you <3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Group Photo! Those smiles were amazingly resilient, even during our 90+ degree days. I swear I’m in there next to Dad but I got covered by an elbow.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Classroom time. Every morning started with demonstrations and information about what they were going to be working on. Here Timbo is showing how to use a chainsaw to shape and trim the bales. Let me tell you the electric chainsaws were worth every cent we paid. They are SO much more quiet and light.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I think a lot of folks had their first experience with a chainsaw this week. And they all did great, no injuries!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hangout time in the evenings was a blast, we had a fire almost every night. Folks played music & sang, played hilarious camp games, made smores and gabbed until the mosquitos chased us indoors!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kids were hard at work too! Ellie joined in the building work, Asher & Ethan hauled probably a hundred gallons of water to thirsty workers from across the street.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The last day was all about plaster. Everyone pitched in and got the plaster on the whole north wing of the house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a wild ride and got us off to a great start, and now we are ready to start the next phase with our friends & family work parties. Our big goal is to get all the bales in and the whole outside of the house plastered by the time the fall rains start. Our dream is to move in this winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
