After the work party was over and we celebrated the last piece of subfloor going in, we took a hard look at the calendar and voiced something that we all saw coming for a while now. We&#8217;re not finishing this house this year, and that&#8217;s Ok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our current goal is to get framing &amp; roofing done this summer\/early fall. Then we&#8217;ll board &amp; tarp up the house to protect our work and spend the winter working on all sorts of related projects. There are plenty to keep us busy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Milling lumber for various interior things like window sills and flooring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Going through all our stuff and getting rid of a lot of the duplicates like kitchen tools and furniture that we ended up with when my parents moved up here.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doing tests of our plaster mix, finishes and color to make sure we love the end result<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Running the plumbing to and through the house<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installing floor and roof insulation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And plenty more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While it came with a tinge of disappointment we feel good about this decision. It leaves us with the time to do things right and make sure we have a house that will last us the rest of our lives and hopefully a good long time past that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then when the weather clears next summer we&#8217;ll be ready to boogie!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, for all of you offering your help, thank you and I will continue to reach out as we have things we need help on.
